Do you have those days where you just think that you aren’t good looking??
Women nowadays think they are ugly as heck! Recently I asked an old friend of mine if I could use her as one of the models for my paintings, and she said NO! (a capital letter yelling kind of no).
I was bummed because I happen to believe that she’s beautiful but I respected her wishes. Instead asked her why she didn’t want me to make a painting of her and she said “Because I’m not model material. I’m nothing flashy – I’m just ordinary.”
Women today have so many insecurities that they can find millions of things that are wrong with them.
We all have that routine when before you get in the shower or put on makeup on, you exam yourself and find all of the flaws that you have. I do that all of the time. But I don’t think that anyone is just ordinary.
As an artist, it is my job to show the beauty that lies all around us especially the hidden gems that you do not see everyday. And because I have been taking images and painting portraits for such a long time, I discovered something kind of cool.
Why are there so many paintings of portraits? Why are selfies the new thing? Why is almost every single art form revolved around a persons face?
Your face is a canvas – a work of art!
Every emotion, color, shadow, texture and message comes from your face alone. It has to be one of the most amazing attributes you can have and it is your own work of art. You can design it however you see fit!
I’ve had models come into my studio with tattoos, piercings, gauges, short hair, long hair, pale skin to dark skin – the list goes on. And I always thought without a shadow of a doubt that they were all a walking work of art.
Some days I am totally confident with the way that I look, and other days I look in the mirror and say “Ugh no thank you!”. We all do that and it is totally normal. But just because you don’t look like Angelina Jolie or Gisele Bundchen, that doesn’t make you ugly or horribly flawed.
You’re beautiful! Embrace your flaws and who you are!
Who wants another Angelina? The world already has that. But they don’t have you. And you are a walking work of art. A one of a kind. Remember that.
Now it’s time to share your story!
So instead of finding what you hate, what is the one attribute on your face that you LOVE? What makes you stand out? It’s okay to say what is awesome about you. Because you are – you just need to see it.
I’d love to hear your story!
