You ever had one of those days where the stress is just too unbearable to handle?

I currently live in New York City and I can honestly say that this magnificent iconic place is a day-in-and-day-out-coffee-crazy-subway-jamming-stressful city! I mean why wouldn’t it be, it’s the city that never sleeps right?

You are constantly on the go from the moment you wake up and have to make sure that everything that needs to be done during the week is taken care of. Sometimes you even have to use up your weekends to finish all of your tasks that need to get done – especially if you work five days a week and have a family!

And yes you can by a full on super hero wonder woman one person show and can role with the punches but because we are human – it’s normal for us to sit down and think to ourselves:

“This stress is killing me!”

Those are the days we hate and those are the days that shouldn’t come up! So what do you do?

Some people exercise to relieve stress and increase endorphin’s. Others go to yoga for an hour and just mediate. And then there are some that will go to a glass of wine. All of these are common and sometimes costly!

Did you know that art is used as a therapeutic tool?

It can release your mind from the stressful things that get in the way and have you focus on completing one thing. Creating art can help you ease some of the pressure off from your day to day – and you can do this at home!

You don’t need to take an art class or have to go somewhere to create art. Just simply take out a piece of paper and begin drawing. “But what do I draw!” you’ll ask. And my answer is: anything!

Draw a picture of your kids, or something that you saw on your way to work, or maybe draw the day that you wish you had. Art helps escape from whatever you are thinking about and focus on creating your piece. It keeps you focused and once you’re done, you can take on the rest of the day in relaxation.

So now it’s your time to shine!

Here is what I want you to do: I want you to take 5-10 minutes out of your day today and just draw. You can draw a dog or a tree or your favorite dessert, anything. And don’t worry about how it is going to look. You don’t have to be a pro, all you have to do is try!

Till next time – keep creating,
