Do you ever get the feeling that maybe your passion isn’t what it’s all cracked up to be?

A lot of creatives make the decision to go out and pursue their passion, but then the give up because they soon realize that it’s just not for them. There were certain plans and ideas that I stopped or given up on because I thought to myself “Dude this sucks. I don’t think I’m cut out for this.”

But what sucks even more is that when the first plan doesn’t work out, you think “I guess this means I’m not meant to create awesome work like I thought” and go back to the day job that you hated.

Here is what is so great about this (yeah I said great!): When one dream dies, another one is born.

Before I started taking fine art images, I was a portrait photographer. I took head-shots of actors, musicians and was a freelancer for modeling agencies. I thought that this was where I wanted to be and I was certain that I was going to have a career in portrait photography.

And as time went on, I grew to hate it. I started to feel obligated in editing photos, didn’t want to book sessions and just lost all passion for it. Once I realized that I didn’t want to do this anymore, I started to freak out!

This was how I was making income and now I don’t want to do it anymore. My dream was dead! So what’s next? What do I do now?

I started exploring other realms of photography. I began taking photos of weddings, then fashion, events, landscape, stock, etc. I went all over the grid to find that one field of photography I was passionate about. And I didn’t know if I was going to find it! All I knew was I loved having a camera in my hand and taking pictures.

If I didn’t start on taking portraits I wouldn’t be here right now. I started from a dream that didn’t work out to something even better.

Your first plan might turn out to be great and if all goes well, you’ll have an amazing life – one that you deserve. But if your first passion and dream just fails, that doesn’t mean You failed. It means that there’s another dream out there for you – all you have to do it look for it!

Now it’s time for you to shine!
